"The FLIR Ultra 8500 is designed for high pressure pursuit and patrol missions. It's TV and IR telescopes can zoom independently or together, offering improved situational awareness."
However, the success of the mission also depends on the persons knowledge of how to use the system and what tactics are appropriate during the mission.
The GIST FLIR Ultra 8500 provides an excellent platform for training operators the use of airborne IR and DTV systems in a variety of mission profiles. From now on, you can train basic ALE, counter-sniper, counter-IED, SAR, vip - protection in a cost effective way. Image and Overlay
The image that you will see on the 15" tft screens is computer generated. This virtual world gives us the possibility to set up our own conditions and scenarios. On top of this, we created a FLIR 8500 overlay that resembles the real one as close as possible. We also added some of our own features to it (scenario select, set mission time, etc..)
The sensors simulated are a Color HD Daylight with Zoomlens , 3CCD , 29° to 0,25° and a Thermal Imager , 30° to 0.25°. All the relevant functions of the real FLIR 8500 sensors are represented in our software.
For more detailed information, view our specifications.
Hardware Setup
Our Gist case consists of 2 TFT monitors (15"). One is for the pilot, the other one is for the Gimbal operator (TFO). Two drawers contain the handcontroller (HCU), flightpad and headsets. Underneath the drawers are 2 slimline computers containing the latest available computer components. The system connects to a standard 110/230V outlet. All this is packaged up in a mobile shock absorbant flightcase for easy transport.
HCU

With the HCU for the FLIR 8500, you have two possibilities, either use our replica USB Handcontroler, or use your own (real) handcontroller.
